I was a witness to . . . something?

Alright, I'm no racer, and my totally stock Malibu isn't particularly fast. 0-60 in 8 isn't that much better than a Hyundai Elantra with a 5spd (but still quicker than the beat-to-hell 1990 Cavalier and 1996 Plymouth Neon that were my first two cars, or the 1996 Lumina that was my previous . . .) But anyway. I saw part of a kinda funny little race.

So there I was, sitting in the left-hand turn lane of a six-lane, two way road at a red light. Directly to my right was what looked like a late '90s Eclipse. Just to the right of him was something else that I didn't get a good look at and don't remember since it was about a month ago, but it was another small car. Definitely no Camaro or anything of that size. They both had grapefruit launchers, aka "fart cannons", and started rolling back and forth, occasionally chirping their tires. The Eclipse had flashy graphics and such, and I thought to myself, "Hm, this might be interesting. Or amusing. The next light's less than 1/8th of a mile ahead, and it's almost always red . . ."

I started to think that they were probably more show than go. I mean, I figure that if you have to scream out to the world how cool and fast you are, you're probably neither. So when the light turned green, I hit "it" (so to speak, not that there was very much to hit), and sure enough, I was already halfway across the big honkin' intersection before they moved. And I had more intersection to cover, because I was turning left and they were going straight. Like I said, I'm no racer, and my car's no speed demon . . . I think those retards were paying more attention to trying to impress/intimidate each other than to being ready for the light turning green.

So, yeah. Uh, there it is. Kinda stupid, maybe, but there it is.

I'm confused...

So...basically...you saw two cars at a light...and that's your story?!!? Ever consider they knew each other and weren't racing???

Well...nice...car spotting??

Well, I did say it was kinda stupid.

No, I didn't consider that. Um . . . right. Here's the part where I shut up and go away before I make myself look even dumber.

Dont worry, we've had dumber stories/questions/points of view than this here before, this wasn't to bad. Welcome to AF, next time though if you dont race, just put it in the non specific section.

i know what you mean lol. i was turning left to go to work one time, and to the right were a civic and some older acura integra. ass trumpets, one was many shades of primer, the other looked like they crashed into the HQ for sherwinn williams, and were revving on each other. all the lights turned green and i was in the work parkinglot before they were at the other side of the intersection.

lol it's not that big of a deal, but this part of the forum is more for telling stories of your own races
