Question 02 Avalanche Road Noise

I have loud road noise at speeds over 40 mph. It started on the left front ~40,000 miles ago and seems to be all 4 wheels now. It goes away in sharp turns and gets louder, more like a whistle, when maintaining highway speed (not accelerating or descelerating). I am told chevy has a problem with wheel bearings wearing out prematurely.
Any clues??

my 03 started to do the same thing at 40k, wheels bearings are most likely bad which will cause a wretched squeeking noise in the front and as it progresses the noise will get louder, it is pretty unsafe to dirve with bad wheel bearings so i would get them done but the onyl other thing it could be is the shocks which went bad at 43k also on my avalanche
