All other gauges work ok, although the oil and gas do move around a little only one that is not working at all is the amp gauge, mechanic friend said it could be just the gauge is this possible and if not were else should I look?

have you checked the connection on the back of the gauge? if it is connected, replace the gauge! its cheap, unless you want autometer....
