The Engine that lexus never gotNaJiRa 07-21-2001, 10:58 AM I am saving for an is200 but i think its such a pity that it comes with the pissy 1G-FE I6 instead of the 3S-GE I4 offerd in japan.... now i have to buy a 3S-GE and rebuild it cos its gonna be old and transplant it into the IS so its costimg me an arm and a leg enzo@af 07-21-2001, 04:27 PM What's the benefit of the I4? flylwsi 07-22-2001, 12:18 AM same question here... the motor in the is300 is the same as the n/a supra... there is mad shiet for that motor... why swap it? and you can end up making more power witha turbo i6, as opposed to the i4 so what is the deal with importing that motor? NaJiRa 07-22-2001, 03:20 AM the 3S-GTE is used very widely among the JGTC and the Japanese community......its lighter wich means better handeling and ive heard can be used in the is200 to acheive 50/50 weight distribution when placed behind the front axel and a laid flat intercooler too....this engine can also give space for pushrod suspension if u really wanted it NaJiRa 07-22-2001, 03:22 AM oh....and i have nothing against the n/a supra 3L (2JZ) , i was talkin about the 2L I6 gang$tarr 07-25-2001, 06:33 PM why don't you just get a Lexus IS300? we don't even get the Lexus IS200 here s0yb0mb 10-28-2001, 11:56 PM they don't offer the is300 overseas yet, only the is200. But rumor has it the 300 will be in the UK next year. NaJiRa 10-29-2001, 02:24 AM we got is300 already.....ages ago....idiot....u think u know everything dont you? s0yb0mb 10-29-2001, 09:28 AM yeah, uh, where are you? Australia? SORRY! So as I was saying, the UK should be getting it next year. Dazzle me with all of your info, and then you can talk... I bet you don't even have an IS, and if you do, its stock, right?:finger: gang$tarr 10-29-2001, 08:23 PM Originally posted by NaJiRa we got is300 already.....ages ago....idiot....u think u know everything dont you? please don't talk shit.... he didn't do anything to provoke you callin him an idiot thanks :) NaJiRa 11-01-2001, 01:00 AM sorry....just felt like being a smart ass before.....and again sorry gang$tarr 11-01-2001, 11:21 PM Originally posted by NaJiRa sorry....just felt like being a smart ass before.....and again sorry no problem... just don't do it again :D you can talk shit, just don't start it for no reason JBL85 11-05-2001, 09:52 PM Yo gang$starr what happened to your ride??? gang$tarr 11-06-2001, 04:53 PM Originally posted by JBL85 Yo gang$starr what happened to your ride??? nothin.. the RIP is separate for Lamont Coleman who was shot 9 times in the face and chest Morpheus XIII 11-25-2001, 06:39 AM The Altezza's BEAMS 3S-GE DUAL VVT-i in Japan is a hot little thing, much more technologically sophisticated than the 2JZ-GE used in the IS300. It may not seem like much, pumping 210 hp @ 7600 rpm via a 6-speed gearbox, but word has it that this is one of the most highly anticipated and spiritually capturing powerplants for a rear-wheel-drive compact sports sedan. Like power from Honda's F20C? Well the BEAMS 2.0 L comes close. It's great to have torque from a 3-liter, but all enthusiasts know that banshee four cylinders have something that can't be replicated in larger engines. The standard 3S-GTE is a bit different however, being built primarily with forced induction characteristics, but thats still one hell of an engine too, being also used in the JGTC Castrol Supras and Top Secret's GT300 flats speeder. Below, the BEAMS 3S-GE: 91HBSi 12-12-2001, 08:01 PM when I get older and make something of myself I am going to get an IS300. s0yb0mb 12-14-2001, 06:06 PM LOL, by then you'll be fixated on something else :) JBL85 12-15-2001, 01:50 AM you would hope so....i wouldnt awnt to be an adult in a toy car =) SoCalSupras 12-29-2001, 05:52 PM The benefit of the I4 is 200 hp in a lighter smoother revving package. Overall handling improved, acceleration improved. Now your car weighs less !! Dropping a 4 in isn't so easy. 3sgte is usually mounted sideways, so you'll have to get custom engine mounts and bell housing. Either have them made, or import the true altezza parts. JBL85 12-30-2001, 04:04 AM YESS and you can also twin turbo a v6, more weight with twice the turbo and a lot of power. SoCalSupras 12-30-2001, 05:21 PM Ummmm , what v6 are u talking about? :bandit: JBL85 12-30-2001, 10:21 PM the V6 shapped in the form of an I6 which is the engine in the GS300, and IS300......=) gang$tarr 12-31-2001, 05:26 PM Originally posted by JBL85 the V6 shapped in the form of an I6 which is the engine in the GS300, and IS300......=) the N/A supra engine JBL85 01-02-2002, 02:19 AM yes, thats the one. s0yb0mb 01-02-2002, 12:19 PM the 2jzge is not an v6 it's an inline-6. JBL85 01-02-2002, 10:08 PM the V6 shapped in the form of an I6 which is the engine in the GS300, and IS300......=) did you notice I said i6 when I realized i messed up....read previous posts :D you will catch these things Morpheus XIII 01-02-2002, 10:11 PM I caught it. Nice save. Haha :D s0yb0mb 01-03-2002, 10:18 AM nah, you don't get it... it's not a v-6 shaped like an inline... it IS an inline. that's like saying my desktop I'm working on right now is a laptop shaped like a desktop. Nope, just a plain ol' desktop. jinushaun 01-03-2002, 04:54 PM Originally posted by JBL85 the V6 shapped in the form of an I6 which is the engine in the GS300, and IS300......=) I don't get this. There's a huge difference between an inline engine and a v-shaped engine. Different design and layout. Are you saying the v6 engine covers nearly the exact same volume (or space) as the i6 engine? I guess that can be considered "shape". gang$tarr 01-03-2002, 05:43 PM i think he means just the I6 that's in the in the IS and GS300 i think by V6.. he meant that it's a 6 cylinder inline engine i dunno... i'm just tryin to make sense of it :D Morpheus XIII 01-03-2002, 11:27 PM Ahhh, you don't get it. A simple error was made and a correction was implemented to save it, but it wasn't worded clearly for everyone to make sense of it. It's not a big deal! JBL85 01-04-2002, 04:01 AM I WAS JOKING......HAHA....didnt mean to confuse you all I was wrong and so I was like yeah I called it a v6 because its in the sahpe of an I6.....just being dumb thats all....but yes I know the difference vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
