first win with the turbo

I just got my car out of the shop, and decided to cruis around for a little while. I was sitting at a light and a probe gt pulled up next to me. He started revving so I said what the hell. I revved back keeping the turbo quiet, and when the light turned green I easily walked away in second gear. It wasn't much of a kill, but it isn't running perfect yet. It did put down 180 hp and 205 ftlb which is really good for a 2.0 gti.

you take off the damn BOV which just wastes power anyway. doing that will make the turbo car much quieter, and it'll be better in terms of power once you start modding. I can explain further, but i'm just lazy

Re: first win with the turbo

Forced induction rocks!

By the way, removing the BOV is not a good idea. It is there to prevent compressor surge, which can kill a turbo really quick.

The reason I was trying to keep the turbo quiet was because any other time I let them hear it they backed down. Even a WS6 which I figured would smoke me anyways. The only people that would mess with me were rockets and why waste 93 octane. Do you guys think 10 psi is too much boost if I have enough fuel? I hope not because I really like it. How much power does a stock srt-4 put down to the wheels?

ovbiously there is always the chance of a problem, but...

Think of the turbo system as a closed circuit. The car knows exactly how much air is in the system (from the maf). If you use a BOV, then the air is vented to atmosphere instead of back into the system (like stock). This is detrimental becuase the recirculation is after the air gets metered. If you vent the air that ECM thinks is there, you are making the car run rich.

The difference is probably negligable in a stock application and probably not enough to determine the outcome of this race, but gets propounded as the power levels go up.

just got that ^^^ from one of the guys on another forum. he's kinda the audi/vw turbo expert.

Re: first win with the turbo

How much does the srt-4 put to the wheels? I know a BOV hurts the 1.8t but every other car I've seen runs a BOV. This is not a 1.8t it is a 2.0.
