Greetings. I have a 96 Plymouth Neon sohc, and it has a problem or two and maybe you can help me here. The Service Engine Soon light has been on since day 1. I did the key on/off cycle and it gave me a egr system failure code. I haven't had the time or money to sink into this problem and drove it away to work and back everyday. Today on the way to work the car started running rough and when I pulled to the side of the road it just quit! I started it right back up and it quit two more times before I got to the parking lot at work. I did the key on/off thing again and got the following codes: 32 43 55. After work I took it to Auto Stoned and they hooked their OBD2 reader and it showed the same thing as I pulled with the key. The fellow there suggested it was probably my ECU going bad???? I then went to Advance Auto and they sanned it and suggested a electrical short somewhere down the line. I am pretty sure the Egr code is the transducer or a gummed up or faulty Valvle..That is no big deal. The missfire code has got me stumped however. I am thinking of changing the old wires and plugs to start of with and then removing and cleaning the EGR valve and tube. Any suggestions on how to deal with these items..thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Do exactly that, change the spark plugs first. Use the stock champions for replacements. The platinum split-fire and all those other plugs are a waste of money for the neon. It won't benefit any from the added spark. If you still get the code 43, then change the wires. As far as the EGR goes, you can pull it off and clean it out and relube it, but the transducer is probably where your problem is. It's about $85 from the dealer or you can try the junkyard.

Ok yesterday we replaced the fuel filter, the plugs and the plug wires. I got the plugs that the VECI label suggested. Going to work today and it started stumbling again. With each stumble the service engine soon light would flash, then it stalled. Popped the hood and noticed a GREAT DEAL of corossion on my NEW battery cable ends. Cleaned them off, and waited a few minutes...car started right up and I drove it 15 miles back to town. I then went to Advance Auto and had them scan the computer (again) Now I have these codes p0403, p0351, p1391. I know about the egr code but these other two are intermitten loss of Crank/Cam signal and Missfire Coil #1. Guy at the auto parts place suggested maybe coil was going bad and maybe Faulty ECU was causing the codes. He also suggested faulty wiring goint to coil. What do you think? I have no way of finding a damn circuit fault that I know of.

Did you reset the PCM after you changed everything? If you did and you are still getting the misfire code, then your coil pack could be going out. There is a way to test it. Let me see if I can find it for you.
