Raced a 540iTypeS 07-18-2005, 02:07 PM My buddy and I took our rides around town last night. He has a '97 540i 6 speed. On the way there, we did a few runs. Starting at 70 mph in 3rd, I pulled 2-3 good car lengths until 140. He said I raped him pretty good. He's raced an S4 and E36 M3 before and beaten both by a car or two on the highway. He does need to have his O2 sensors replaced, so it will be closer once his car runs better. On the way back from Chicago I was merging on the highway and this E36 328i gets behind me. It's this chick that's probably in her late teens, early 20s. She just took off. I kept cruising at around 70-75 mph and she was going at least 90. She kept merging in and out of traffic without signaling even once. Pretty stupid thing to do. I kept my distance and sure enough, the bitch loses control, spins a couple of times and slams into the wall sideways :uhoh:  I didn't feel bad at all. She risked other lives while driving like an idiot. I just drove by without stopping. It reminded me of the Mr. and Mrs. Smith scene. She was lucky that noone behind her rearended her. Stupid bitch doesn't deserve to have a license. speedthrill 07-18-2005, 02:16 PM good race, bad way to show off when yr a girl. Well, if she didn't did those things and didn't slammed into the wall it would be awesome to see a girl step on it in a BMW. If she would be hot and awesome herself offcourse. But then again...... ah welll, i'm gonna shut up now. :uhoh: 90redgt 07-18-2005, 02:33 PM impressive, what's the power rating on the '97 540i's? street_racer_00 07-18-2005, 02:35 PM impressive, what's the power rating on the '97 540i's? 282 hp...same as TypeS's...I think...which is why I'm surprised you owned him. CivRacer95 07-18-2005, 02:39 PM I would have stopped for the girl. But being the wise ass that I am, I would have come up to the window and been like, "OMG, do you know what you just did?! You just spun around in mid traffic!! Like Fast and the Furious or some shit! Fucking awesome!! You are one hardcore racer!" Then I would have turned around without another word, hopped in my car, and drove off. TypeS 07-18-2005, 03:14 PM impressive, what's the power rating on the '97 540i's? It's pretty much the same car as mine but with 310 lb/ft of torque instead of 325, no short shifter and no modified CDV. I pulled a carlength in the first 2-3 seconds and then sloooowly walked him to 140. Once he get's his sensors and catalyic convertor replaced, it should be closer. -The Stig- 07-18-2005, 03:54 PM I would of stopped for the girl... even stupid people need help from time to time. Part of that whole what comes around goes around Karma thing. SiGNAL748 07-18-2005, 05:40 PM Erm, excuse the thread jacking, but Redneck, when the hell did you get that Camaro? (Then again, I'm way out of the loop. I haven't been back to the forums in like a month.) -The Stig- 07-18-2005, 05:43 PM I got it.. two weeks ago... about 3 weeks after I sold my 240z. The clutch is about gone in the Camaro...sooo no races yet. Untill I can get me anutter clutch... street_racer_00 07-18-2005, 07:50 PM It's pretty much the same car as mine but with 310 lb/ft of torque instead of 325, no short shifter and no modified CDV. What is a CDV? TypeS 07-18-2005, 08:04 PM What is a CDV? "The Clutch Delay Valve (CDV) is a one-way restrictor between the clutch slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder. It "delays" the engagement of the clutch. Because of this valve, no matter how quickly you lift your foot off the clutch pedal, the clutch engages the flywheel at a constant (slow) rate. BMW does not install a clutch delay valve on the E39 M5" It pretty much robs you of power right after you shift. With the stock CDV the clutch doesn't fully engage right after the shift. For example, when you make a shift and floor it right away, the clutch will slip for about half a second. The modified CDV is just like not having one at all, but it's still there for warranty reasons. 90redgt 07-19-2005, 05:42 AM I got it.. two weeks ago... about 3 weeks after I sold my 240z.
