G-class forum?Morpheus XIII 04-26-2002, 08:26 AM The quiet specialty importers of the military Gelaendewagon have been bought out. Mercedes now sells this piece of mastery in its own lineup after viewing its unprecedented popularity. I still can't believe there isn't a thread already for this vehicle (if there is, sue me). Although the new G500s have S-class-like interiors, they are still all the German muscle that the orignal G-wagons used to be. http://www.mbusa.com/brand/image/models/gallery/photo_gallery/image/G_main_1.jpg http://www.mbusa.com/brand/image/models/gallery/photo_gallery/image/G_main_0.jpg Inthezone 04-28-2002, 12:03 AM I agree, awsome looking truck. Morpheus XIII 04-30-2002, 04:34 AM Welcome to AF! Say, which do you think would be better at 4-wheeling? This Mercedes, or the Land Rover Defender 90? Inthezone 05-02-2002, 01:52 AM I'm not a 4 wheeler myself, never driven off -road, but I would think the Land Rover Defender. AEstud 05-02-2002, 02:44 PM warren sapp that plays for the bucs has that car. I even saw it when he was having his 4 10's put in. I believe he even had a prototype of it. Morpheus XIII 05-03-2002, 06:17 AM Probably not a prototype, but more likely the original Gelaendewagon, which could be imported in the past through special dealers for about $150,000 (they've had them in the DuPont Registry) before the G500 was formally released by DaimlerChrysler's Mercedes Benz. The original G-car has been around for some time now. Interesting fact: unlike the MotoRex Skyline GT-Rs, the specialty imported Gelaendewagon never needed additional reinforcements for U.S. safety requirements because it exceeded safety requirements up to several years from now. It's THAT sturdy. AEstud 05-03-2002, 07:24 AM it can also scale 60 degree angles and is able to be driven through 3 foot deep water. Tom_S8 05-03-2002, 07:29 AM Originally posted by AEstud it can also scale 60 degree angles and is able to be driven through 3 foot deep water. Would you take a 100000$ car with wood and leather etc. through 3 foot deep water...? Myself if i were for offroading i'd buy a land rover or a god damn jeep wrangler... but luckily i don't need to go off road and i'm not interested in it vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
