Re: when i look at a neon i................
there were neons with 150hp stock.
however, they werent a base model, there was the competition coupe of 1998 and 1999, and there was the R/T model of 2002 to 2004. (of which i have a 2003 model, in black).
in das2123's profile, it says he has a '99 neon, so i'm to assume he has a competition coupe?
edit: ouch, just realized my car is basicly a neon CC, with 250 extra lbs of weight... and a worse turning radius, and ofcourse different styling...

All first generation neons that are DOHC are 150HP stock. Some people even got lucky and got a free upgrade to the DOHC when the SOHC engines were running short. The ACR is the competition package I believe you are referring to which went on to win the SCCA 3 or 4 years in a row

Re: when i look at a neon i................
'tis ok man (atleast with me), the older model didnt really look that agressive. then again... there was never a stock neon with over 200hp in the 1st generation.
well... you're almost right though... even though the HP was raised by almost 20hp, the torque saw only a 5lb-ft boost... really... comon now dodge... i would guess theoretically a higher top speed, but not MUCH better acceleration? dunno, never driven a SE or SXT neon...
