PoisonFangs 04-25-2002, 09:58 PM Wow everyone listen to billy badass over here.:flipa: :flipa: defuse411 04-25-2002, 10:03 PM I know I could with my 300zx that wouldnt even be a thing.... but my message was about -Why dont people like street racing -why not support the game that started an industry. so if you could read then you would know so dont try to be a bad ass ok. and dont say I am knocking hondas because I own one also:flipa: Self 04-25-2002, 10:13 PM ok...this came outta nowhere...Who said anything about hating street racing? Why else would be in the Street Racing forum? And WHERE THE HELL does anyone say you were bashing Honda's? You've lost me...and I think that most of the members are lost with me... defuse411 04-25-2002, 10:18 PM on the street in the forum there are alot of people saying well mabe you learn a leson street racing is illegal or that is what you get for street racing understand........ok and to the comment about hondas .......I could see it coming the that member would way something about me and nissan cybercrx00 04-25-2002, 10:31 PM Maybe people like me have had our fair share of scares racing and have gotten it out of our blood. I have had enough run-ins with police, and enough close calls to know when to race and when not to. I really prefer going to the drag strip, sitting around BSing, getting a couple runs in and talking about cars over getting a quick run down the street and running from the cops, it gets old quick. Besides, since I sold my Z, racing has kinda lost it's fun, I mean sure, racing the prelude is fun because it takes soo much longer, kinda like racing in slow motion, extended pleasure, but none-the-less, I try to contain myself and save it for the drags. kidrocket 04-25-2002, 11:01 PM listen newb youre kinda new around here, but if you stick around i think youll find that this is a group of pretty intelligent people. I think youll also find that there is a very large amount of people who dont drive hondas. we dont accuse them of bashing hondas unless they do. On a lighter note, welcome to AF As for street racing, im not gonna say i dont do it, but its not about taking risks. Personally i only race if the risks are at a minimum. i dont feel like being killed or incarcerated PoisonFangs 04-25-2002, 11:12 PM The bottom line is use your fuckin head jOYRiDe 04-25-2002, 11:53 PM Originally posted by PoisonFangs The bottom line is use your fuckin head point taken :) BlkCamaroSS 04-26-2002, 12:34 AM Yeah, I was going to try and say something meaningful, but PoisonFangs pretty much summed it up. carrrnuttt 04-26-2002, 01:03 AM Originally posted by PoisonFangs The bottom line is use your fuckin head Just make sure it's not to smash the windshield with. CivicEx95 04-26-2002, 02:08 AM As you're paying for your higher insurance rates and all your speed racing tickets, I'll use the money on my car and race at the track. I like racing too but i don't go places where there is a posibility that I might hurt someone else. mellowboy 04-26-2002, 10:17 AM Originally posted by Neutrino if you want take risks its your own problem. its your life you do what you want with it. but if you "TAKE IT TO THE STREETS" as you say you endanger other people wich is not cool. When you take it to the track...yes u can still get hurt but atleast your not your hurting or killing anyone around you. guysohigh 04-26-2002, 10:18 AM I try to keep the "risk" at a minimum whenever we're racing, track or street. Its not about whoz badder or got bigger ballz, but who has the faster car Takin it to the streets doesn't make you any harder than the guys that chill at the track and have a good time safely. Guys on the street are just endangerin other people go to the track and you still have fun without all the damn danger. If I go street racing I'll take it to some empty backroad where there aren't any cops or people. That way it is just my life and the guy I'm racing that in danger. Otherwise take it to the track. juncivicls 04-26-2002, 03:12 PM Originally posted by cybercrx00 Maybe people like me have had our fair share of scares racing and have gotten it out of our blood. Thats why at every stop light in america you can see Grandma and Grandpa revving their V8 Grand Marquis to some punk in a riced out "Type R" civic... No one cares, your opinion on "street racing" is just that... no not everyone does it, and some people actually dont mod their cars for OTHER PEOPLES enjoyment. Some people dont try and act cool by revving their car at other people just because they have some variety of import or something and fear they might just get "OwNzeD" -- You my friend have the "small testical syndrome" -- sorta like bullies who walk around picking on the dorky kids at school... people with "cool" cars dont need to show off on the streets endangering other people just so other people see them... maybe if you have ever been to a track you would understand -- I would love to see your first attempt at a 1/4 mile launch with your cocky attitude... you learn real quick that you only THOUGHT you knew how to control your car. Do what you wish though, wrap your car around a tree -- kill some old lady walking across the street... hey its your concensious (sp?) not mine. white97ex 04-27-2002, 12:35 AM racing at the track, no thrill no danger.........we only have an 1/8th mile track near us. and a guy died at that track 2 weekends ago. no thrill no danger? anytime you get in a car it involves thrill and danger. i'm not saying that i will never street race. i dont right now because i dont want my ass handed to me. but if and when i do, it will be controlled, it will be as safe as it can be. there will be no pedestrians and no traffic. no, i am not promoting street racing. it is EXTREMELY dangerous. and by promoting it it makes you look like a highly unintelligent individual. thats just my .02 PFCfutrell 04-27-2002, 02:18 AM Most of the guys that street race in Augusta are the one's that know they can't win without the inconsistencies of the street. At the track there's no saying "A car pulled out in front of me" or "I thought I saw a cop" just two cars and some lights. There isn't any traffic on the track either meaning a slow car won't win by taking a dumb chance and cutting off a soccer mom, i've had more than one person who cut someone else off while racing me when they should've just dropped back. If there looks to be the slightest chance of the person i'm racing trying to pull some BS like that i'll drop back to avoid any conflicts with regular traffic. Not to be a hypocrite but I had a pretty weird race on my way home tonight. A mildly moddified '92-'95 Civic coupe raced me (i gave him a headstart) and lost then told me he had no traction when shifting gears. I have NO traction when trying to launch hard or shift fast, so I granny shifted and still whooped his ass even when i let him catch up around 80mph and then take off (pretty sure he wasn't having traction problems at 80mph). If you lose a race don't give the person some BS just congradulate them on the win and ask what they've got. The weird part is that we were racing right where a motorcycle crashed a couple nights ago and the rider died, I drove by right after he crashed so it was a little freaky to be driving through the same stretch of road at speeds over 100mph. carrrnuttt 04-27-2002, 03:51 PM Most street racers feel they have bigger balls than most. What they don't realize is its the size of their brains that matter. If you find yourself street-racing and "thinking" that you can squeeze between those two cars or whatever, instead of KNOWING that it is not a good idea, it is time for you to stop. This is when your balls are SOOO big, they're in the way of your judgement. I admit it. I street-race a lot. I would fill this whole forum if I posted all of my street-race stories. Just didn't want to, because a) no one would believe my kills(and laugh at my losses:( ), in my SOHC non-VTEC LX Civic, and b) I don't have time(or patience) to explain every one of them. Also, I don't feel my car is worthy enough YET... ...my b18 goes in next month:D. Bottomline, I won't sit here and lecture anybody about street-racing, because(pardon the cliche') it's like the pot calling the kettle black. But, I can talk about stupid decisions most street-racers make. It's easy to just slow down...don't worry about your ego...you can use the excuse that you weren't really trying...and it'll ACTUALLY be true. whprelude 04-27-2002, 05:47 PM Originally posted by defuse411 dont then why hook up your cars for speed , what do you live at the track? Racing in the rain with Clelica GT-S... we both slowed down as soon as we saw traffic (2 cars in the far right lane of 3 lane highway)... A really controlled racer in a newer Civic Si, signaled every lane change, waited till there was ample room between cars before passing, just plain good high speed driving... :) Excellent races while they lasted but safe and controlled... we weren't out to prove nothing it was just a "hey lets see what you can do" type deal... I lost both and it's no problem. 93speed 04-29-2002, 04:57 PM I don't think anyone told defuse411 that said The Fast and the Furious was just a movie. A horrible one at that :bloated: tynebeach 04-29-2002, 05:46 PM Yeah, I agree that street racing's all right when everybody's doing it safely. When someone starts cutting off other cars and being an asshole of a driver, its time to stop cause that stupid driver is putting his life AND YOUR life on the line.:flamer: :sun: Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
