I find its appearance to be a little "too cutting edge" for lack of a better term. It has prototype written all over it, although it seems that more and more manufacturers are releasing cars that look like they're just that, prototypes.

As for the performance aspects, sounds great.. but naturally the S2000 gathers lots of criticism because it must be driven at 8 or 9 tenths to get good performance out of it, and too many in this day and age are not willing to put up with a machine with these characteristics as a street car. The big question remains low end torque in my book.

The SS2200 was put together by Mugen, and you can actually buy some of those body parts here in America through King Motorsports (just not the ones that turn it into a one-seater).

And FYI: the "S" Honda uses in "S2000" stands for "Sport," but the "SS" in Mugen's "SS2200" stands for "Speed Star." :flash:

speed star just makes me picture a bald guy with a pink scarf and a pink silk half buttoned shirt waving to the construction workers as he passes in his pastell colored speed star...

if anyone likes the ss name sorry. its just my opinion.

if anyone likes the ss name sorry. its just my opinion. Mugen is a Honda tuning company based in Japan. The Japanese are notorious for making some odd combinations of english words. For definite proof of this phenomenon, please see www.engrish.com.

I think the SS2200 looks alright...I think they did way too much to it. Hey if you can make the kind of cars Japan makes, then u can name it whatever u want, as long as it is a good car

The only thing good about that concept car was the 2.2L Mugen developed engine.

SSR (a major sponsor in motor racing) stands for "Speed Star Racing." I found that out last week.

There has to be something wrong with the specs. S2000 weighs 2800lbs with a driver and it runs 5.7 seconds for 0-60mph. That car weights a estimate 2100 lbs and it also have better specs and it only does 5.0 seconds? People have done 5.2 in their stock S2000.

i saw it at Twin Ring, Motegi Japan when i went to see cart racing. it doesn't look too bad in real life but i don't think its that sweet... i'll post a picture if i have time scanning it.

They wen't just a little too far with this one :apuke:. I'm with F20C on this one: the only good thing is the Mugen engine.

I retract my vote. I put my vote as "the best car ever made", thinking that we were talking about the stock S2000. Looking at the thred more in depth, I discovered that we're talking about the SS2200 concept, which may I ad is not a prototype. It's just a wild, crazy S2000 used for Mugen publicity.

I personally think it's butt ugly.

quick question. if a e46 m3 convertible raced an s2000, straight away, 1/4mile, who do u think would win? the 1/4mile on an s2k ive read is like 14.2 or someshit and i was wondering if it would have a chance.

If you guys think that the ss2000 is for real, you;re on crack. Look closely and you will see that it's just a current body with No changes, has the windshield cut off and bunch of ugly rice plastic put on it.
That car looks so hideous that I'm embarrassed to say that I drive an S2000. Somebody said it looks like a dog who swollowed a huge corn cob and then threw up. I say it looks like Anna Nicole Smith had diarrehea and fell in her own sh!t in a drunken stupor.

here is my metaphor of it as a baby. the baby came out and they said, "oh man, its early!" and shoved it back in. then, a few months later they take it out again and it is overdeveloped, too many features. sorry about the aweful metaphor, but i was trying to fit it into one of my friends jokes. it didnt work
