A 04 *edited* GTO *edited*, some color of powder blue rolls alongside all hard. In it....a 18yr old lookin girl in a waitress outfit! Light went green and we both rolled through the intersection slowly, faster than everyone but it felt like we were crawling. I was in second at 3k when she hit it, she passed my door right as I hit the start of my 18psi of POWER! She stoped pulling, and I reached her door to door as I made it to third, and I smiled to her as if to MOCK! Red light ahead, stoped cars as well and the police station just down the road a block from the intersection...what do I do?

I kept going, I pulled past her, she kept going right up untill we had no room. I slamed it down a gear and nailed the brakes, it got squirley and sideways a lil, I held it, she locked up and skidded, ABS had to kick in because the skid turned into a fast halt. I swooped in behind her as we stoped at the light. I assumed she wouldnt go for it infront of the police station. But you know, assuming makes an ass out of u and me. She rolled out hard from the light so I pushed first all the way to 8k. I drafted her right through the intersection and nailed into second as I swooped to her side. I was pulling slowly alongside her, she looked ANGRY! I hit third and pulled steadyly past her. It was over, top of third and I was well over a car length ahead of her.

The z purred in GLORIOUS VICTORY!

Good kill man. I can't believe those GTOs have the LS1 in them. Didn't feel like a very fast car when I test drove it.

The old GTO's (04) are too heavy for the LS1. They do haul pretty well with the LS2 in them though.

I'd hope so. I've seen people dynoing 295whp on LS1.com. Isn't this supposed to be the same engine found in the base C5 Corvette? And didn't most F-bodies dyno over 300 whp? I think the '04s are way overrated. Never drove the LS2 ones.

I rode in the LS2 equipped GTO. Its not too impressive either. Quick, but not fast.

It depends on the year of the LS1. The 98's had larger injectors, but a weak cam. They dyno around 280-300 whp (Yes I know big discrepancy). The 99's had smaller injectors but a better cam, and dyno in the 285-300 range. The 2000 I believe has a egr setup, but it had roughly the same power as the 99. 01-02's had a better cam and the LS6 intake manifold and a slightly more aggressive cam. They dyno significantly higher then the other years, with some of them going about 310 whp. The GTO's should be similar to the 01-02's as far as I know.

Kinda funny cause alot of people were being all gung ho on putting the LS2 intake manifold on their 01-02 LS1's, only to find that they were losing power. The LS2 intake manifold is actually worse then the LS6's.

What elevation are you guys at? Cause M6 LS1's trap a lil higher than that here. Just curious.

We're at 1290 ft. elevation over here. The main problem is the track design. Most tracks don't run headlong into the wind, and aren't facing the sun in the afternoon. Speedway does both.

Ahh, ok. I'm spoiled living 20 mins from a good track (Atco) and then having a really good track a lil over an hour away (Cecil) :)
