turbo ???BCEVOX2 07-07-2005, 08:35 PM I wanna put a turbo in my Neon but i have one question first. I noticed that other cars wit turbos in them such as talons n eclipses hav a different hood when turbos are equipped. Will a turbo stick out too much on my Neon n require a different hood or not????? das2123 07-08-2005, 09:41 AM I take it you have a SOHC neon? I would advise you to do alot of reading and researching before putting a turbo on your neon. If you knew where the turbo went, you would know that is does not the raise anything in the engine. So NO, you don't need a different hood. The reason for the bulge hood on the neon is to clear the extra cam on the DOHC neon! BCEVOX2 07-08-2005, 08:41 PM u always hav somethin smart to put in yur replies. Thanx for yur reply but if u hav somethin smart to say in it, then dont reply. It was a simple question, didnt need the smart remark. das2123 07-09-2005, 10:55 AM I wasn't trying to be smart. It just occurred to me that if you knew where the turbo is located or if you have done any research you would have known the answer. Sorry if it came off rude. Turbo'ing a car is alot of work and shouldn't be done without extensive research. I would recommend a book called "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. It is a great book about turbos. You can find it on eBay for about $25 and is definitely worth it. Of course if you are buying a kit then you could skip all this and just follow the instructions with the kit. I am here to help if you have any further questions. alphalanos 07-09-2005, 11:01 AM turbos are typically mounted lower in the engine bay. no where near the hood. there is alot more to turbocharging then just "installing a turbo" you still need all the piping, oil lines, probably new fuel system, some kind of ECU work, possible internal mods, new intake /exhaust manifolds, intercooler and piping, blow off valve. its an expensive process. maykelcj 07-13-2005, 07:26 PM u always hav somethin smart to put in yur replies. I think you are the one being rude here!!!! dass only tould you how things are and you take this as rude? man you need help but not really about cars.... G-man422 07-16-2005, 04:32 PM A turbo in a regular neon might be hard. Might i suggest selling the stock base model neon and buying an SRT-4? They really are a good deal for only about 22K and it has the power you're looking for. das2123 07-16-2005, 07:24 PM A turbo in a regular neon might be hard. Like I already told you G-man 422, ignorance is bliss! I know quite a few people with turbo'd neons that can easily outrun SRT's and your PT cruiser. Which by the way has the same wheelbase as the wimpy neon you describe! I am not saying the neon is the best car out there, but when you can get a used neon for $1500 and then put about $1000 in mods into it and have a pretty quick car, that isn't too bad. Spend $3500 on a turbo w/ an IC and you are really quick! http://www.hahnracecraft.com/auto/neon/neon.htm G-man422 07-17-2005, 05:37 PM Yo Das2123, you're incorrect. there is no way a crappy $1,500 neon with $4,500 in mods would perform as nicely, not to mention look as nice as the SRT-4. Remember power isnt everything. The old neons are not build to handle the power you want to put in them. das2123 07-17-2005, 07:39 PM Yo Das2123, you're incorrect. there is no way a crappy $1,500 neon with $4,500 in mods would perform as nicely, not to mention look as nice as the SRT-4. I am not incorrect because I have seen it done time and time again. You say it's a crappy neon, because you have no clue as to what you are talking about. I have seen neons with well over 300HP, doesn't sound to crappy to me! Besides if THIS NEON (http://www.funfry.com/showphoto.php/photo/1485) can beat a Viper, it can easily beat an SRT. G-man422 07-19-2005, 07:56 PM I know exactlly what im talking about. But lets just drop this stupid dispute. Im tired of arguing with you. das2123 07-19-2005, 08:08 PM I know exactlly what im talking about. But lets just drop this stupid dispute. Im tired of arguing with you.... :)...
