Exclamation '99 GA died while driving, wont start.

ok, heres the specs of the car.

99 GA 2 door, 6cyl, auto

Ive had no problems for the longest time. This morning while driving down the road, no faster than 40mph, it just died. I figured it was just out of gas...the gauge was low, but not quite on E. anyway, i run to the corner and get a gallon, put it in the car, and try startin it. nothing. I keep at it every bit for about 10 minutes to give it time to get through the line. still nothing. so i leave it and call my girlfriend to come pick me up. when she gets there about 30 minutes later, we go back and i try starting it again. this time it actually acts like it wants to start, but sounds horrible. the only way i can describe it is by saying it sounds just like the cliche sound effect in the movies. runs real rough, giving it gas has no effect, then after a few seconds it just dies. ive seen some of the other threads saying maybe the Airbag thing under the seat got wet, but i doubt thats the case...i live in phoenix. no gauges are going crazy, and the electrical in the car seems to be working fine. Its in a parking lot right next to where it died right now, so any ideas on just getting it to run long enough to bring it home will be appriciated. Thanks guys.

Re: '99 GA died while driving, wont start.

Check two items, the fuel pump and the crank position sensor. Since you said the car was running OK and then just died I would lean toward the CPS. It is possible that the fuel pump went due to the tank being low but they usually go when you turn the key off and try to start it and it won't restart. Depending on the engine you have the location of the CPS varies. I would have it towed to a garage for repair.

ok...for anyone that drives a 99, THE TANKS NEEDS MORE THAN A GALLON TO REACH THE FUEL LINE. fyi.
