Where is it???
:eek7:
1988 Accord LXi coupe
Don't tell me in the passenger footwell because it isn't. Looked at the side panel, firewall, under dash and near the floor. I am trying to see if it is throwing codes out. Also when I am trying to time it on the flywheel (auto) if I try to time it off of #1 I see no marks using # 3 or #4 I can get it to produce timing marks (wierd). If I time it to 15* then it will ping like a bell. I put it on the green dot and it runs just a bit sluggish. I blocked the vaccum advance hose off. If it is timed on the green dot then vaccum hooked up it shows up near the 15* mark. WTH? It doesn't sound or look like vaccum problems.
All this because of smog stating it was at 20*
Thanks if you have any answers.

Its under the driver seat. The light is on the back. There is a little plastic flip down and behind the door is the light.

I don't understand what you're trying to do. There is only marks at TDC. If you are seeing a mark with a timing light using a different cylinder, your timing belt slipped or firing order on the cap is out of sequence.

Did you start having a problem suddenly, or after a repair, or what?

What I'm asking is, why are you setting the timing?

Question...on yours the engine sits on the driver's side, so #1 is the far left (from the driver's POV) cylinder, correct?

So if you are looking under the hood, they'd be numbered 4-3-2-1? Are you using that one?
