99 Chevy Metro - Fuel Filter

I'm trying to change the fuel filter for a 99 Chevy Metro and have had several different locations given to me. I was told the filter was inside the fuel tank..... so I dropped the tank to change the filter and guess what, the filter given to me by the autoparts stores is no where to be found on the tank or inside from what I can tell. Can someone please help me understand where this filter is on this car.

Thanks all!

Re: 99 Chevy Metro - Fuel Filter

Sometimes these filters are closer to the engine. Check closer to there by following your fuel lines up. Just guessing. Zeph

Re: 99 Chevy Metro - Fuel Filter

The fuel filter on a 1998 and up Metro is built into the fuel pump assy and is not an "in-line" filter like the older models.
