Unhappy '90 Tercel NO SPARK

I'm attempting to help a coupl'a younger people that broke down down the street from my house. They live four hours away and it took 'em awhile to find a way home. The car is still here and has been for 2 weeks. Here goes, short story:

Spins, no spark.
replaced igniter (and checked ALL fuses, including engine and CPU)
still no spark
replaced CPU, ran enough to get it to my house, shut it off, no more start.
replaced CPU again, still no spark.

Can someone PLEASE help me ASAP? I want them to have a good 4th weekend.

Thanks

EDIT: Carburated, sorry

I don't think it's gettin anything. I checked it. like I said I put on a used ECU and it ran enough to get it to my house. Tried to start it, and nothing again.

hmmmm,

Maybe theres a problem with the electrical system that maybe keeps on ruining the computer and happened in the first place. Im not really sure if it has an internal or external regulator. But I guess its possible the the system overvolted the computer. If you do get it running again check to make the voltage is ok. Sorry I couldnt be more help.

ehh correct me if i'm wrong, but caurberated cars don't have an ECU...

i'd try the coilpack within the distributor, you have to take it apart to get to it, or the ignition module connected to it.
