Screws!

Yeah, I have a sort of different question. Do you guys ever come across those screws that just won't turn... but you don't want to strip them. How do you get them out?

I was taking my headlamps out but I ran into two little screws that hold it in... and they wouldn't turn for the life of me. They we about to start stripping so I stopped. They are not rusted or anything. Hell, the rusted one came out easier than these ones. Is there any sort of chemical or other method to use?

Thanks.

crap, stripped screws are boogers. You can probably get a stripped screw out the same way you can get a stripped bolt out. Get a small drill bit, drill a small hole in the center of it, then get an easy out, put the easy out in the hole you drilled and screw it out.

Re: Screws!

Spray the hell out of it with some PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench, let that set for a long while and try again. Are you talking about headlights or fog lights? cuz the fog lights have screws and the headlights have 2 bolts. My fog light screws stripped so bad I had 3 mechanics try all sorts of methods, ended up buying some aftermarket lights.

I'm refering to the headlamps themselves. It looks like there are two small screws on top and two on the bottom. Then there are the two level adjustment screws on the top and side. But the thing is, they look new. I got the rusty screw out (of all things) but the shiney ones won't turn. The screwdriver started to turn so I stopped before it was about to start stripping. If the liquid wrench doesn't work... I might try the drill idea. Things like these just make me mad. I wish it was a bolt instead of a screw.

Ok, tried the drill. That sucked, stripped the screw. I don't know how I'm going to get the screw out now. I guess I could try vice-grips or something like that. *sighs*
