I have what may seem like a stupid question but, how do you do good burnouts when preparing for a race? I recently went to LACR and tried but couldn't really get the hang of it. I got 17.1 in a hatch with a b16 is that good for a first tome ever?

ok, a burnout on street tires will hurt your time because street tires get slick when hot... on drag radials or slicks you only need to put it in 2nd, rev with the ebrake on, and dump the clutch. spin the tires until you start to see smoke, let the e brake off and there ya go.

Slicks and street tires are different compounds, street tires gain nothing from burning out, except added wear. Burnout before the water, get the crap off the tires, roll through the water (if there is some), burnout outside to dry them off, and heat them up. On street tires, just roll up to the line. You can lower the tire pressure a little (a little, as in a few PSI, letting out too much will damage sidewalls) in street tires to gain a little more traction, but that's about all.
