I don't currently have a turbo on my car, but it should be real reliable on stock internals with 8psi. The stock internals of the engine can hold up pretty well. You can build your own turbo setup, buy a Hahn Racecraft kit, or a Chill Factory turbo kit. What are you thinking about doing?

As long as you have the MLS headgasket, you will be fine. If not, you will want to throw one on there. Do you have a SOHC or DOHC? You can also look at the SRT turbo. It bolts up to the DOHC, but you will need an adapter if you have the SOHC.

I have no idea if it is mls. How could I find out? I have a 99 dohc. If I got one from a srt what else would I need besides the turbo and waste gate? Would it all bolt up to my neon?

Re: Re: Re: turbo'd neon
Cars with a build date AFTER 11-98 should have the MLS gasket. You would need the turbo, manifold, I would opt for an aftermarket wastegate, intercooler (for more HP), oil lines, and some other stuff. It isn't as easy as just bolting up the manifold and turbo. You can get everything you need for around $1000 dollars if you shop around on eBay and pick up some parts from there and at www.srtforums.com. They are always selling their turbo's and IC's for bigger ones. If you don't know much about turbos, I would highly recommend a book called Maximum Boost, by Corky Bell. It is a must read of you are building your own turbo. If you don't want to read and research, them buy a kit and slap it on

Well I checked the inside of my door it said "date of birth 3-99" so I guess I should have one so the ones with a mls headgasket shouldnt have a problem like the other neons then? I will probably buy a kit I dont really feel like messing with building a kit.

Re: turbo'd neon
I have heard the Chill Factory turbo is real good, but there are some issues with actually getting all the stuff for the kit and slow shipping. I would go with someone known like Hahn Racecraft. http://www.modernperformance.com/ is where I get all my stuff for my neon!
