my friends are gunna race this weekendKiCFlip5 04-19-2002, 09:00 PM 2 of my friends are gunna race this weekend, one has a 1997 eclipse gs-t and the other has a 97 prelude, they are both automatics, who do u think will win? Polygon 04-19-2002, 11:10 PM I dose depend who is the better driver of the two. But I would say the GS-T has him beat. Self 04-20-2002, 12:57 AM The GS-T by a tiny bit. that's with ALL things being equal of course(driving ability, traction, vehicle maintenence). It will be REALLY close, I think. PFCfutrell 04-20-2002, 01:49 AM I saw an automatic 'lude at the track the other day, a newer SH and it was running high 16's, i don't think the guy was driving terribly well. spy54 04-20-2002, 02:49 AM how does driver ability have anything to do with drivign an automatic PFCfutrell 04-20-2002, 10:10 AM Driving ability has everything to do with driving an automatic, launching it wrong can easily add a second or more to their time. Shifting it manually or letting the tranny shift by itself can make a difference as well. There was a mildly modiffied Eclipse GST running a few weeks ago (automatic) and it was running a 14.3. cybercrx00 04-20-2002, 12:18 PM Originally posted by PFCfutrell I saw an automatic 'lude at the track the other day, a newer SH and it was running high 16's, i don't think the guy was driving terribly well. The only SH's are 5 spd., so it was probably just a slow auto. PFCfutrell 04-20-2002, 01:59 PM You're right about it not being an SH but doesn't the automatic come with 195 hp as opposed to the 200 in the SH? That's not a huge difference, the only difference between the base model and the SH is the ATTS (active torque transfer system) which is Honda's fancy name for LSD. kidrocket 04-20-2002, 04:37 PM its not the same thing as a LSD. if it was, why would they call it ATTS for the prelude only? Also, SHs have been tested as slower than base ludes consistently Self 04-20-2002, 06:15 PM Originally posted by kidrocket its not the same thing as a LSD. if it was, why would they call it ATTS for the prelude only? Also, SHs have been tested as slower than base ludes consistently I don't know about any of that, but Active Torque Transfer System sounds an awful lot like an LSD-type device to me... If you did, then the TA was running in V6 mode, my friend. That, or he spun his tires until you were 20 lengths ahead and then caught you by 120...:D NSX-R-SSJ20K 04-21-2002, 01:00 PM Originally posted by Self Ok, ok...I'm going to demand some clarification on this...You mean you hung with a Trans Am until 120 mph?? Ok, I was about to say......I'm not tryin to be a jerk, but I thought you meant you launched from a stop and kept up with a TA until 120. That not being the case, nicely done!:) kidrocket 04-21-2002, 11:15 PM ATTS is similar to a LSD, but theyre not the same thing like PFC was inferring. I dont pretend to know the difference, however PFCfutrell 04-21-2002, 11:37 PM I didn't mean to say it was an LSD, but it is so similar i call it a fancy LSD for the sake of trying to explain how it works. The way i heard it described it sounded like an LSD but it's exact inner-workings are a mystery to me. I'm reasonably sure a stock SH vs a stock non-SH might not gain much in straightline acceleration but a forced-inducted or nitrous fed 'lude might gain something from the traction device. I dunno, i'm a low-tech guy, i don't even like VTEC, it confuses me  Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
