Alarm Problems with 96 Camry

Ok, I am going insane with this problem. I decide to be Mr. Fix it and install a new battery because someone (probably me) left the door open while I was on vacation. Well everything went find until I conected the new battery. As soon as the positive terminal touched, the alarm, which I haven't used in the last couple years because someone(probably me again) lost the little remote for it. So now my poor camry is stuck in the garage, and it can't go anywhere until I figur out something to do. Any helpful responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks

figure out the alarm u got

figure out the alarm u got and buy a remote, or just get a universl remote and bring to any alarm shop and ask them to program it to ter alarm, or u can go under yer dash and find the alarm brain and cut the RED wire comin from it.

You can get the remote alarm for 10-20 bucks on ebay. But the programming is kinda suck since we don't have the programming diagrams. The alarm brain maybe under your driver seats or the dash board. But you better wish it's under your driver seat because under the dash board is a pain in the ass to get it out.

Re: Alarm Problems with 96 Camry

Try to turn the alarm off. Insert the key and turn into the on position. There should be a red light located on the dash that blinks when the system is on and remains constant red when the system is off and just keyless entry on. There should be a switch on the bottom of the dash where you have to stick your hand in a little to find it. A silver switch. You turn it left or right to shut it off or not. We had our Camry's battery changed last summer. The system went off and was constant for a while. But it then just stopped. Thats all I can say. Oh to figure out the alarm, you had to know the FCC ID for the remote in order to get one that matches your alarm system. If not you have to get a whole new system. But I dont know why you dont have a backup. Toyota gave us two extra remotes with keys and an emergency key.

I am facing the same problem, . My alarm system was activated yesterday and I tried all ways to turn it off but failed. I found a silver swicth under the left dash just located on the left foot postition. However, when i turn it to off position, the horn was still crazy shouting.
Don't know why. Does it need a little bit long time to shut off the alarm after turn off the swicth?
