Silverado had Volkswagen for dinner

So I pulled out of my neighborhood on to the major 4 lane road last night, and I looked in my rearview. I see coming up very fast from behind me a late model (not the new one) VW Jetta. The guy is obviously trying to get around me for some reason, though both of our lanes were totally clear. About the time he gets up to me (remember he's going very fast on this 45 mph road), I step in a big ol' hot steamin' pile of Silverado. The truck matches his speed almost instantly, and we both start gaining from there. By the time I topped 3rd gear, I think he must have been real close to his top end, because when it shifted into 4th, it was like someone hit me with a shot of nitro. I left him back behind me, and then we got to some traffic. We chose opposite lanes and he got cut off big time at that point. Every once in a while, I looked in my rearview to see him "rabbiting" in and out of traffic, trying to get further. Didn't work. It was no Camaro, but you gotta start somewhere.

Nice kill dude, now let me ask you something (not to bring up old shit, but) would you rather be doing what you just explained...or would you rather be taking corners with him and running in and out of traffic because your truck handles well!!???

Why not both? Honestly, my last car was a Honda Prelude with 4 wheel steering. There's not much that would out handle that car. This truck, unless you're taking a deep turn, handles pretty well going by the prelude. As far as rabbitting in traffic, the difference is negligible.

It's that new Nelson Tune thing, he just can't help himself. When you got the power you gotta show it..... Going through that stage myself...

It doesn't matter if I ws driving a Pinto; I'm not taking any shit off a VW. The pinto prolly wouldn't have done the job, but I would have given it my best.

you have to watch some of the vw's, my buddy has a vw gti. its the 2 door golf with the 5spd and turbo. it has a few mods but sounds and looks stock and it is quick. it would beat most of the trucks on the road without a problem.

Yeah a buddy of mine had almost the same car. HAD. He got into it with a mustang and won, but blew his engine in the process.

Well, my buddy had a VR6 in his, but you are right. In a contest between an 8 and anything with fewer cylinders, the 8 is doing TONS less work. 6's can be great, tho, but usually inline 6's have the marbles over a v6. Just take a look at the old Supra
