You can paint right over the sanded primer. Sealer is basically a primer but is shot right before spraying your color and does not have to be sanded. It is used primarily if you want to get the car all one color by sealing the whole thing, to get it a color closer to what you are spraying, or to prevent incompatability between paint on the car and what you are spraying. The mae I used on my car. It won't last as many years as a basecoat clearcoat job, but is less expensive. It can fade over time, because of the extra uv protection clearcoat has. If it is a solid color you are spraying you should be fine. A metallic would be harder to spray in single stage, and couldn't be wetsanded and buffed afterwards without a clearcoat. I used mae on my car about 4 years ago and still looks nice and glossy. It is white though, other colors like red fade more. White reflects most of the light and black absorbs it, so a darker color is going to absorb more uv rays and be likely to fade sooner.
