I'm lost wheather to buy a more refined and luxurious 1999 M3 or a hardcore perfromance vehicle 93-94 supra. Some of the factors that i look for are performanec, chick magnet level, and everyday drivability. which one's faster? does m3 have a large aftermarket choices? Which one would you picK?

I would take the BMW, they won't be as fast and both are pretty expensive. I just think the BMW is nicer personally. Just not a huge supra fan.

I'd go for the Supra without a doubt. I would guess most chicks don't know the difference between an M3 and a regular 3-series, not that they wouldn't like a regular 3-series but around here those are a dime a dozen. The Supra however is unmistakeable, it's rare, fast, unique, has bulletproof reliability, and is certainly a chick magnet.

I know the supra is the faster one but which one costs more to maintain it. Does m3 have a large aftermarket products and are they expensive?

Chick magnet, uh the Supra will turn more heads, as it's easier to identify, and rarer, but the most chicks love bimmers, and an M3 has a great interior (most chicks love that). That's a toss up, but as the one poster said, 3 series are a dime a dozen.

I would think the M, would be a terrific daily driver, as it's so refined, and such a great ride. Since it's a '99 M, the Supra is faster, but M's are no slouches.

I'd go with the M, BMW's, are terrific cars.

While the Mk. IV Supra is one of my favorite Japanese cars, I could never say no to the M3.

But before I compare the M3 to the Supra, I want to know if we are talking N/A Supra, or TT?

I'm not a huge fan of German engineering, but the Supra's handling is just so bleh. And I don't think I could stand being followed around by every teen on the road. So, I'll give the M3 my nod.

M3's going to be more costly to maintain

I'd have to take the M3 though for it's out of the box performance...I like NA lately...and w/a supercharger it could do wonders!

BMW's have sucky reliability, and you have to maintain them all the time. My cousin use to have a '00 BMW 323Ci and was always having problems with it. I like the M3 and all and I think its a nice car, but I would DEFINITELY go with a Supra, how often do you see one anyway? There are so much more aftermarket products for a Supra anyway. Its your choice man, but I'd def. go with the Supra! ;)

good point...everyone and their brother will want a peice of you in the supra...you won't ever have any peace at stoplights..lol...if you had the ///M3 i think you would have the best of all worlds....great handling, chick magnet, no slouch in a straight line, and most of all.....it's an ultimate driving machine....although finding performance parts for it would be a bitch, but it's not impossible....just ask one of the people in the bavarian cult..(j/k) ....either one is a winner... :dunno:

by the way ludespeed, my dad has a 1998 M3 and hasn't had any problems with it...all he's had to do was change the oil and spark plugs....common maintenance...and i agree that the bmw would be harder to maintain but you can't generalize...know what i'm saying brotha? :D

I think this choice isn't easy. The M3 doesn't look very spectacular. In relation to my environs I'd take the Supra. Here are many M3's domiciled, it isn't something special. In regard to the chicks it's a difference, here are they eager for M3. I'd prefer an Alpina to a M3 (from the point of view of a chick  ), it may also not be exactly a difference to regular 3-series, but I love it.

But the M3 will give you performance, and a class and sophistication that you just can't get in a supra...as for reliability, Ive heard and seen that the quality of the essential parts (engine trannt ect) are very high...but its the little things that break on bimmers

For me its a difficult choice, but I'd have to say the M3. Its more luxurious, can seat 4 people, and also responds to mods well. Although the M3 is definitely more expensive to modify than the supra, you can get a 96-99 M3 for fairly cheap whereas a 93-94 supra is still somewhat pricey due to its rarity and desireability. Finally, the E36 M3 was lauded as one of the best handling cars of its time, so the overall feel and handling of the car will be far better than the supra.

Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to have either car in my garage. Even though I prefer the M3, a 600RWHP+ supra would definitely tickle my fancy.

I can get a 1993-1994 with decent mileage for 10G and can get the 1999 M3 for 15G.I'm leaning towards the Supra. Every time i see one on the street i can't help but get goose bumps.
Boom boom skeet skeet.

where have you found 93-94 supras running for 10K, out of curiosity?

well to tell you the truth i think supras are overrated. and m3s make me drool. incredible machines on the track. supras dont exactly handle the greatest. i mean they dont handle badly, but compared to the m3 they suck. now on the chicks matter. chicks dig beemers. it doesnt matter to them what kind of beemer it is as long as it says BMW. thats all i have to say about that.

These are both great cars but I think I would go with the Bimmer. I love M3's, well not the new 3 series, and fixed up they look great and you don't see many, at least I don't. Supras too are rare, and I love this car too, but all around the BMW would be my choice. Plus, I would just like to get the newest car possible, usually less of a likelihood of problems due to age, diff. owners with diff. driving habits and so forth. Either way should be good though.

I'm guessing you don't own a BMW.

Hmm.

I on the other hand, have personal experience with hondas, acuras, BMWs, fords, toyotas, lexuses (lexi?), and others. I can say that BMW is high maitenence, and is reliable if not neglected. A BMW gives something that none of those other cars do.

BMW

http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=19&article_id=3124&page_number=1

The engine is an absolute gem. This ferocious, screaming motor hurtles the M3 down the road with an urgency that now rivals the world's best sports cars from Porsche and Chevrolet. BMW estimates the M3 will hit 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and will eat up a quarter-mile in 13.5 seconds -- on a par with the 911 Carrera and Corvette -- and we think those numbers are accurate.

The 0-60 time beats the Supra and the 1/4 is very close to it. Also, BMWs are known to be 300,000 mile cars. I'm sorry but I don't think the Supra could last as long, even for a Toyota.

As for picking up more chicks in the Supra...

Muscletang: That's the E46 M3. We're comparing the E36 M3, which is still fast, but not Supra TT fast.

BMW M3 or Supra? i don't even think they are comparable....Bavarian motor works all the way...i think that the m3 would have it's way with the supra on the track too....that's why i'm going with the Bimmer

Nothing but if anybody in here honestly thinks a Supra will pick up more they're in for a big surprise. Yes there are some girls out there that know what they are but most I know wouldn't know a Supra if they saw one. The thing is though most girls know a BMW, know they're expensive, and like them.

The BMW will win hands down if it goes against the Supra to pick up chicks.

not if you're married  :p

i would go w/the supra. i've owned an e36 m3 (1999), and performance parts cost an arm and a leg. the supra is easier to make fast.

chikcs are so materlialistic! since i don't get chikcs anyway, a beamer isn't going to help much probably. I'll follow my heart and go for the supra.

i will go with supra, E36 m3 look ugly for me, as for chick magnet not sure about the US, but for sure here in Thailand chick drive E46 or C class so if u wanna pick them up in a E36 (they can't tell the difference between and 320is and a M3) then they are going to laugh at u for emm...a very very very long time.

Japanese = Over-engineered to be idiot-proof, actually.

I'd go for the BMW every time, the Supra looks very much like a female Sumo Wrestler, with a body that looks as if it has it's own rolls of fat and it's squidgy eyes, whereas the M3 is under-stated class and elegance and pretty much just as fast as a Supra. I found the M3 to handle much better as well, but that really depends on both driving style and driving skill.

I rather have it over-enginnered like how mercedes-benz used to be then having them how german car are today.

and as for the look it really depend on taste, like me personally i never liked how M3 look (except E30 m3) i always feel that the coupe version look better.
