94 Z28(A4) vs 95-99ish Eclipse(NA M5)
i met a guy locally who goes by the name Dbo. He has a 95-99 body style eclipse that is non turbo. it has headers, full exhaust, CAI, computer tune, and i think he said something about heads and cam. will all of that stuff really make it comparable to my 270hp Z28? My car has an auto 4 speed and he has a manual 5 speed. when i met him he asked if i had a v6 or v8. i said its the LT1 V8. he told me he'd smoke me no problem. i kinda wanted to laugh. i got his number, what would i expect out of a race? from a red light? roll? my car isnt terribly great in the upper rpm range but it pulls like hell each time it shifts!

His car isn't even a turbo. With his meager list of mods, I'd say it's a mid- to high-15 second car, and that's being pretty generous. You should be able to absolutely decimate him.

make sure it is in deed a non turbo. i have seen quite a few eclipe GS or RS that have been turboed or had a GS-T motor swapped in. but then again, why would he ask if it was a v6 or v8 if he knew he could smoke either???

thanks for the replies!
k3smostwanted: it is indeed N/A. he showed me under the hood. only think on the intake is a CAI. no "turbo boosters"(lol @ geico).
i feel its safe to say he is a ricer. no real serious upgrades. mostly interior crap like sparco seats, a CF shifter, a tach that read 0-12000 rpm(lol). i liked the subtle vinyl on the side. it looked alright. i think DBo is funny too but im not telling him that. hes 20 and looks like he could kick my ass. haha. unless im in my camaro i know my car is weak on the top end, but how does the NA eclipse perform in the upper rpm range?
i think ill give him a call tomorrow. i just hope we can do it before 5 when i gotta work

Re: 94 Z28(A4) vs 95-99ish Eclipse(NA M5)
haha hes a regular on the 240sx forums
i havent heard how fast his car is but its an RS model (1.8L 116hp stock iirc) so i would say hes safely in the 16s unless hes gone into internals which i doubt
hes seems smart though so i doubt hes just another ricer but still you should beat him

His car performs better in the upper RPM range than it does in the lower, but you'll still kill him from any RPM.
