subwoofer

i was wondering if you could cut a hole on the under seat storage covers on the extra cab model and put a subwoofer there? or does a subwoofer need to be in a box? or is there any way better than that?

Re: subwoofer

It is possible to do that, but first let get an idea of what kind of sub your wanting. They come in different sizes and shapes. Some require more cubic air space than others. Some must be sealed completely, others need ports or vents. Ex. Kicker L7 12" Solobaric. In a sealed box it only requires 1 cubic ft. of air space. In a vented box, it requires about 2.5 cubic ft. Now you see the mess you could get yourself into by cutting holes. I want even get into ohms or were your going to place your amplifier that is needed to drive the subwoofer.

My best suggestion is to use Bazooka BTA8200 tube. It will fit directly behind the drivers seat, on the floor. It's self amplified, 200 watts. Easy to remove if you need that extra space.
The Bazooka is designed more for QUALITY not QUANTITY. If your looking to enter contests, forget the tube. If you want a good clean sound, give it a try.

Re: subwoofer

Or, if you're willing to lose a seat, build a sub enclosure that sits on the back bench (that's what I would recommend)

I have a couple pictures of someone who did this, however they aren't on the computer i'm on right now.. i'll post them here later.

Edit: Here is what I was referring to earlier.

Or you can build/buy a sub enclosure that fits right in between the two fold down seats in the back of an xtra cab. I did this to mine and I love it. (even though I only have one 10" sub) But if you are looking for just clean bass, this is the way to go. If you want to see pics the finished install, go to

Hope this helps!

Re: subwoofer

I looked up on ebay and I didnt see that he was selling another one. I love the one I got, and it only cost me $118 with shipping.
The eBay seller ID of the guy I bought it from is shawn6882. He is real great to do business with. I saw the box I wanted on eBay, but I did not bid fast enough, so I emailed him and asked if he could make another one, and tell me when he would put it up for auction. He had one built and ready for auction withing a couple of days. So he is very easy to do business with, and after I finished the transaction with him, I recieved it within 3 days. Email him and tell him your situation and RJ2BUY2 as a referece, <ShawnSrh16734@aol.com> and he will have one for you to bid/buy it now before you know it.

Re: subwoofer

You can even match your interior of your tacoma. I have tan interior, so he put matching carpet on it. I think he has 4 different types of carpets to choose from, and he even sent me samples through the mail before I purchased mine.
