2WD to 4WD

I would not think about under taking this normally..But...I have been looking for a crew cab truck in good shape for a while. I have found one with very low miles and in near perfect condition for a very very good price . I will use the truck mainly for fun (pulling boat ect.) But have two Small children that need to fit in it too ..That's why I have been looking for a crew cab. The truck I have found Is a 1991 F-150 XLT long bed dual tanks fully loaded. It has the 5.0 EFI engine in it. Its 2WD ....I really wanted a 4WD so I asked around and was told that I could convert this one to 4WD fairly easy..Is that true..? Thanks Brian

Re: 2WD to 4WD

It would be very expensive unless you have a donor truck that is a 4X4. If not you need to buy a new trans with a transfer case and a new front axle that is geared the same as the rear axle. If you do a search on this forum I know there is another thread out there with some good info on this project. If it were me i would not attempt the project without a donor truck.
