2000 Pontiac ac/heater switch???

Hi all,
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix thats ac/heater switch does not work in the #1 postion. All others, 2,3.4 and 5 work. Any sugestions as to what the problem is??? If the switch is the problem please advice on how to change the swith out?? I tried to remove the dash panel with no luck. Any and all help would be appriciated??

It isn't the switch, the blower motor resistor is going bad and needs to be replaced. It is located under the dash, way up under the dash, next to the fan and costs about $39 from a GM dealer. You can change it yourself but you may want to remove the front seat to give you plenty of room to get up under the dash. Should take 6.5 mm socket to remove the bolts from the fan and resistor. Good Luck!

What was the actual problem on the misfire/injector issue?

Hi,
I went and put a bottle of isoheet in the gas tank and filled the tank with shell V Power gas. I also installed new plugs and wires and guess what?? No more misfire.......... SO HAPPY... I will keep my fingers crossed.

Hi,
I looked under the dash and could not make out where this resistor is or for that fact what it looks like. I remember how the older type looks mounted to the firewall. Is this inside the blower motor assembly?? You mentioned taking the motor out with the resistor. Please email in more detail, this is a first for me and i am alittle slow on this one. Thanks for the advice on the fuel injectors. I now have a power window regulator problem posted on a new thread.

The blower motor resistor is located next to the fan up under the dash. If you remove the fan motor the resistor should be right next to it. The fan takes a 6.5 mm socket and so does the resistor. It is an extremely confined area and removing the seat will help you get enough room to get into the area. It should be rectangular in nature and is located just to the front of the fan or to the side. I looked for a picture but could not find one for you.
