Has anyone ever heard of a 7.2 Liter engine ever being put in an S10? Could such a thing be done? If so, do you think it'd be worth it? Will the performance be really high? (I don't plan on doing anything like this, at least not for a long time, this is just a curiousity question ).

it could be done with different tranny and rear end. a 350 is a better option, because the 350 will bolt right up to a the stock tranny(if it is a 4.3 that is).
what is a 7.2 a 454? not too fimiliar with liters only cubic inches. i think a 350 is a 5.7.

The 350 is a 5.7L motor.
You need to very seriously strenghen the frame or it's goodnight s-10 frame!

I have seen pics of a 454 in an s10, it involves lots of fabrication, a torch, and a welder. But it can be done

box the frame, put a 1500 or 2500 rear end on it, and know how to fabricate/improvise, and im sure you could do it, not cost effective for what you would gain over a sb, but it gives you hell of a lot of braggen rights

My Bodyman friend sayes that his next S-10 will have a 454 in, but he'll have to cut out the firewall to do it.

Your better off with a 400 small block. They're the same outside dimensions as a 350

You're kidding right? No one in the history of 350 conversions has had to do any strengthening to an s10 frame. It's a full box frame, no mods needed. (except changing the cross member for compatibility on the 2wd mod)

for the 7.2 i would box again, make it twice as thick, but for a 350, its plug n' play

For the 350 conversion, a stock frame is more than strong enough.

As for the big block conversion, my buddy just put a 454 in a 4x4 S10, kinda. He used a full size frame and then put the S10 on it. It fits better than you would think.

Intresting idea. I'm using a S01 frame under a classic rod, but I would have never thought of using a full sized frame under an S-10

I'll see what I can do about the pics, might take me a bit.

He has a 3" body lift so the engine sits lower. The motor mounts were moved a few inches forward. He didn't have to cut out the firewall at all but he did take out the blower motor for the heater(mud bog truck only). One of the main problems was running the steering shaft. In the stock location, the steering shaft would have hit the head. He used smaller steering shafts with little u-joints built into them to route it around the head. (they have a name for them but I can't think of it).

You don't really understand physics and geometry do you? Again, no strength re-enforcement needs to be done for a 350. The s10 frame is more than adequate for the job. Take a look at www.v8s10.org and see who has strengthened their frame.
