3" Body Liftmattg1024 06-01-2005, 09:18 PM I want to install a 3" body lift kit on my 99 supercab 2wd. i found a kit that trailmaster makes for under $200. my question is this, how hard is it to install this kit, and will any additional mods be needed in this kit? I'm 17, but i want to do work myself (stuborn person, lol). how hard might this be, and is it something that i could do in a day, or is this a major overhaul? thanks and please leave any other info that might be helpful. I could tell you that the amount of frame rail that will show under your truck will look terrible, but that won't stop you either. I could tell you that there will be a gap between the bottom of your tailgate and the top of your bumper, but you'll still do it. ;) ...I remember 17 well! You didn't say if your truck was a stick or auto- You may have to lengthen the rods, fuel filler, brake lines, etc that are going from the body down to fixed positions on the frame. You should be able to get a breakdown of the parts that need modification from the store that you are buying your kit from. Even mail order places usually have a tech support person that can offer some guidance. Good Luck & Be Careful stang805 06-02-2005, 03:54 AM and a body lift does absolutely nothing but make it top heavy, save some money and do it right, get a suspension lift, it'll look ten times better and actually serves a purpose mattg1024 06-02-2005, 08:57 AM ok, so say i want a suspension lift. can someone answer the same questions with that? i just thought that a body lift would be easier and cheaper, but i'd rather only do this once, so maybe a suspension lift would be easier. the truck is a stick btw. stang805 06-02-2005, 03:43 PM i think a 3" suspension lift would be easier, and a good kit will come with everything you need, either way you're gonna spend some time on it, a weekend anyways, IMO you'll be much happeir with a suspension lift mattg1024 06-02-2005, 04:08 PM can u give me places to look that would have a good price, and what can i expect to pay? stang805 06-02-2005, 08:22 PM try ebay, i've seen some pretty good prices on kits there mattg1024 06-03-2005, 08:31 AM do i need more or a lift in the front since my truck is lower in the front being a 2wd? if so how much in the front if i want it level, but 3" higher in the back? mattg1024 06-04-2005, 09:30 PM where can i get a lift kit for my 2wd truck? all the websites i go to on;y have it for 4 wheel application! stang805 06-05-2005, 10:20 AM what is it? f-150? mattg1024 06-05-2005, 07:25 PM 99 f150 extended cab stepside 2wd 5 spd stang805 06-07-2005, 06:47 PM stang805 06-07-2005, 06:49 PM mattg1024 06-07-2005, 10:02 PM SWEET!
