Steering and Thumpingscottweeks 05-29-2005, 06:14 PM When going from a stand still and turning at a corner, the front of the car squeels, and thumps when turning.....any ideas? It is topped up with power steering fluid. grfnkl 05-29-2005, 06:55 PM Make sure your belts don't need adjustment. If your drivebelt is just slightly loose you'll hear a squealing noise when you make turns, as well as a thumping noise. Hoags 05-29-2005, 10:08 PM Is the noise & thumpimg comming from the tire. If so it could be as simple as a broken belt in the tire. Other possibilities could be a suspension problem causing the tire to squeal and bump along the road surface. Just a thought. Ridenour 05-29-2005, 10:22 PM Squeeling and thumping while turning the wheel at a stop sounds like a bad power steering pump. THe power steering pumps on our cars aren't exactly too robust - it could be squeeling because it's going south, and the thump is from lag because it can't keep up. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
