I bought a pair of them for my 71 camaro 275/40-17..... i powerslide all the time in that thing so i just wanted somethin cheap to throw on there... i had dunlop sp sport 5000's before... these sumitomo's GRAB.... if you like drifting.. dont buy these tires.... they grip too damn much :icon16:

What do 275 40-17 mean? i know 275 is width in mm? and 40 is prob height or sidewall or somethign and 17 is 17" rim.

ur correct. 275 is the width in mm, 40 is the aspect ratio which i think is some sort of percentage of the tire width (so in this case the tires height is 40% its width or something), and 17 is the rim size.

Sooo....some 255/40/17 should not fit on 17x9s? seeing that 255mm is 10.* inches? 220/40/17 220 is 9 inches? I dont think that would work out. But if theyre really grippy i dont think ill get them. What about Kumho Ecstas or Potenzas? What are some good tires?

Kumho Ecstas are supposed to be good. they grip on wet road, they last pretty long, and they are cheap.

225s will stretch about 30 Degrees on a 9in rim
255s will be Parrallel with a 9in Rim

I'll be running 225/45/17 on a 17x9 +20 wheel. 225s is about the biggest you can fit on the front of an S13 and 255 is really the biggest you'll need to run in the rear. 17x8 +25-30 will be flush in the front 17x9 +25 30 will be flush in the rear without a pull

I'd rock Sumitumos, they seem to actually be able to hook despite what everyone thinks

Kuhmo Ecsta MXs are one of the grippest street tires out there for under 200$

Bridgestones just rock in general

Ill be getting FN01R-C in Bronze 17x9 +20. So I shoudlnt run 255s all the way around? Or should i run 225s all the way around? Damn your post confused me from the knowledge i thought i knew.

i use dunlop sp sport 8000s and they are really nice. plenty of grip and smooth breakaway characteristics
the only thing is that it is kind of hard to drive at the limit, because of the low profile and quietness i couldnt always tell when they would slip until i got used to them. but i like them now. if you have 250+ whp i heard that falken azenis sport and azenis st615 sport are both good for drifting they grip alot though so you need power.
