rear axle squeekingajamato86 05-24-2005, 06:05 PM my truck has a squeek coming from the rear axle, im wondering if i just have to lubricate the bearings or something? no idea how to get the squeek to go away, any help would be appreciated rlith 05-24-2005, 06:25 PM what year truck? Could be your rear pads or shoes and your drums/rotors need turned. crazycory1 05-24-2005, 06:36 PM Sqeeking when hitting the brakes or when driving down the road? If driving down the road, it could be your shocks or leaf spring bushings. If its only when you hit the brakes, then its your brakes. ajamato86 05-24-2005, 07:34 PM 98...and its only when driving down the road, but its happening at even intervals so it doesnt seem like its the shocks, more like somthing spinning that needs to be lubricated whitetrash982 05-25-2005, 01:40 AM could be dry spring bushing , or pads , might even be loose beds bolts , check the tightness of everything and squit some kind of lube like similar to WD40 , but not WD 40 , becuase it dries up to fast , some more silicone based like zep 45 ajamato86 05-25-2005, 07:20 PM its not from the shocks or brakes, u hear it when the wheels r spinning rlith 05-25-2005, 07:26 PM Still could be the pads rubbing against the drum. Also could be the axel bearings. ajamato86 05-25-2005, 10:36 PM if tis the axle bearings, what do i do to stop the squeek...lubrication?..if so, how? rlith 05-26-2005, 06:35 AM The bearings are lubricated with the rear diff oil. If they're squeaking, they need replaced. (If you change the bearings, change the seals too, total will be about 30 bux) crazycory1 05-26-2005, 09:51 AM How many miles are on your truck? Some times the backing plates for the rear brakes get wear grooves in them that cause the pads to not return all the way. You will have to remove the pads to see the grooves. ajamato86 05-26-2005, 02:56 PM just under 60,000 miles ajamato86 05-29-2005, 11:34 AM i noticed when driving that when i apply the brakes the squeek stops, so it must have to do with the brakes bodyguard890 06-01-2005, 09:46 PM i noticed when driving that when i apply the brakes the squeek stops, so it must have to do with the brakes i got the exact same problem only it sounds like it comes from the front.......... im gettin it checked in 2 days ill let you know what happenes ajamato86 06-02-2005, 06:37 PM yeah mine ahs gotten louder so i have been able to notice its coming from the front on mine too bodyguard890 06-03-2005, 10:57 AM yo, yea i figured it out............its the pads and/or the rotors mine's in the shop today. shouldnt be to expensive. how wierd is that, that we had the same problem at the same time?!?!? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
