the check oil light is on all the time and the oil is full. but if i turn the car off after it has been runing the light will go off.
Is this problem common and if so what is the fix for it or do i just have to live with it.
Try opening your fuse panel cover and push and hold the "reset" button for 3 seconds. It is a button to reset the oil light and check tire pressure light.
My 96 did that for a while also, right after oil change. I'm not sure if it was because I overfilled it a tad, or the crummy filter I put on. Anyway it got over it after awhile and stayed out (mine is getting old and a little oil tends to dissappear from it )
i had the same problem, you have to turn the key to on and put the car in neutral and then press the gas petal 3 times fully, and then turn the key off and start the car and the light will be gone. Sounds goofy but it really works!

I just posted a question regarding my "Change Oil" warning light because I've been trying to reset it for two days now...
OMG!!!!
What you said to do worked! What a stupid car...lol.
