My Grandma has a truck ... doesn't every Grandma?
This truck is a '98 F-150 extended cab, long bed. It's a long truck (to those of us who live in the city). I'm thinking about buying it from her. I have it right now to help a friend move. Grandma might not know that she's going to have to negotiate its release
Here's what's going on. Last week or so, they got it under coated. I'm not a fan, personally, but they live in Michigan, so I suppose they think it's OK. It sounds like there is an echaust leak right up front behind the manifold, but I haven't looked too closely yet. Do they remove the exhaust before undercoating?
Should they? I picked up the truck over the weekend and drove it down here to Atlanta. On the way, it seemed under-powered (compared to the other times I've brought it down here) and smelled like hot tar. The truck has about 24K miles on it. I looked at the sticker-thing on the window for the oil change reminder. It says mileage: 24,400 or date: 12/2004. Tires and brakes are original also.
So, clearly, I have a few things to take care of. What are the basic maintenance items that I should do (or have done) given the age and mileage?
