96 RS, stuttering on start when cold

Just had the fuel pump replaced 2-3 weeks back, this saturday when I start the engine cold it fires up but stutters like it's going to stall. after about 5 seconds the rpms jumps up into the 2-3 range then it drops down to normal idle and seems fine. After being on the road for 20 minutes or so, when the engine warms up, it will start up just fine. Only have a problem on a cold start.

One thing I've noticed is that the alternator gauge is completely unresponsive until the RPMs jump up, then it raises to it's normal lvl. Also occasionally the ABS Inop and Brake light will come on, restarting usually corrects this. Other then the problem starting car runs fine.

Any ideas?
