the only problem w/ revving an engine higher than it is supposed to is that there are three areas of unbalance in an engine. One area of unbalance is in the low rpm range, one in mid range and one right past the redline. You'd be stressing you're engine a lot by revving it higher w/o doing any sort of work. In order to rev it higher, you'd need to blueprint and balance the engine, and possibly do head work.
There really isn't any benefit to revving it higher....your powerband kinda runs out after redline.
