Yet another kill for the ol' LT1
well i was going down the highway, the same ol highway, the other night when i pulled up beside an LS1 trans am, well i could tell he wanted to race and we were approaching the last light before the highway intersected with interstate 485, well we were approaching the light (it was a camera light), well it turned yellow on us and i slowed down to race his ass and he stomped it and flew through the light. (dumbass). well i watched him get on the interstate up ahead of me so when the light turned green again i speed a lot to catch up with him on the interstate. caught up to him, he jumped me the first time by about 3 carlengths, i was like oh your going to cheat are you so i was going to just let him go but i said fuck it and started trying to catch him, well i couldn't believe it but we got up to about 125 and i flew, i mean FLEW, past his ass. we slowed down and raced from beside each other and i just pulled all over him. raced about 5 times and then we got off at the same exit and raced from a stoplight. burnt his ass off the line, had him by 2-3 carlengths by the top of 2nd gear. then turned around and went home.
LS1's usually give me a hard time about 120 but every since i got the jet chip and descreened the MAF and got all that other shit i feel a SERIOUS increase in top end power which is the weakness for LT1's.
it was fun, cant wait til the next race...

Nice. I'd like to do some racing liek that, but uh... my maro's on the sidelines for a while. I honestly don't think the old KIA Sedona is up to the challenge. lol

Re: Yet another kill for the ol' LT1
LT1man i wondering how much and where u got the jet chip from and if u noticed a good amount of hp increase... cuz thats the next mod on my list... and also by descreening the MAF what does that do for u, and does it hurt the motor in any way or tweak the computer system?
Nice kill by the way

i got my jet chip locally from a speed shop for around $220. they retail for 300 plus.
drvngstorm05, the rims arent actually THAT massive. the diameter of the chrome wheel and tire is the exact same as that of the stock wheel and tire which is 26.5" i believe. but the chrome wheel and tire weighed 3 lbs more than the stock wheel and tire, well i didn't have the stock wheels i take that back i actually had firebird wheels, but they are probably the same anyway.
Link85x, theres a guy in my neighborhood with a 3rd gen IROC Z28 with an LT1/t56 in it with vortec heads and a ton of other stuff that has smoked me a long time ago. that was when i didn't have headers, chip, ta, lcas, stb, etc.

Re: Yet another kill for the ol' LT1
umm by descreening the maf sensor do you jus mean pulling out the little metal screen in font of the maf sensor? cause my 2.8's intake has a little screen in front of the sensor.is it easy, does i hurt anything?

Change "Kia sedona" to "Hyundai elantra" and you've got my sentiments exactly

yes thats exactly what i mean. my brother took his out of his 98 and it was fine for about a year and a half so i said fug it the other night bc i needed a couple extra hp, you just stick a screwdriver down in there and pry up one edge of it and pop it out. JUST BE EXTREMELY EXTREMELY CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE ACTUAL SENSOR, VERY COSTLY IF YOU SCREW THAT UP, it helps if you can put the housing in a vice or something.
i wish i could dyno my car, its pretty expensive tho. i'd rather spend that money on performance. but i do want to, i also want to by a super duper bad ass alarm also, the one i have now is like 1994 technology (not factory).
correct me if im wrong, and ill ask him also, a close to stock ls1 lays down 310hp/320tq. well ive smoked plenty of modded ls1's so id guess maybe in the 320hp/330tq. hell that sounds like too much to me, maybe i just dont really know how fast the car really is. maybe i have my numbers mixed up. i just need to dyno the bitch.

Can't race cuz, i don't wanna put too much stress on the motor, that exhuast is getting real bad. 23 more days til i get my headers!!! My catalytic will be here this friday, gonna get a flowmaster muffler on the 2nd (i'll use this until i get a catback system, whenever thst is)
