Ford Fiesta Clutch Noise

I have just bought a Petrol 2002 Ford Fiesta Freestyle. It only has 23K on the clock.

However when stood at the lights in neutral there is a noise which sounds like I have a diesel engine. I has discovered that this goes if I press the clutch in. The car doesn't pull forward in neutral so I know that the clutch isn't going and the gear change is fine.

So can anyone tell me why I have this noise which disappears once the clutch pedal is pressed down?

I did telephone Ford who said we will charge you £80 to look at it and to tell you what it is !

Thanks
Chris

Sounds Like

Sounds like the throwout bearing to me. this means your gonna have to take the tranny off the engine. And sence you have it tore down might has well replace the clutch & pressure plate. That way you know you wont have to take it down for a while. I would also look at the seals on both the tranny and engine. On older cars I always replace these because in the stress of takein off and puttin on it could cause a seal to leak is this happens you know what that means tear it all back down. But Im a stickler for makein sure everything is rite. Being that its a newer car you prob wont have to replace the seals. But the clutch and plate are a sure thing cause you dont know how the other person drove it and its just costwise the best thing to do. I would hate that you replaced the bearing then 2 months from now have to pay the labor of havein to have it tore down once more because thats whats gonna cost you payin him to tare it down . Unless your gonna do it yourself then your labors free. But id still replace it all.
HAVE A GOOD 1
