Pocket Logger Questions

Hello All!

I recently installed all the MAF-T stuff and I have my boost and A/F gauge hooked up. I think the next step would be pocket logger, what all do I need to get this up and going including all the software and everything. As well, any pointers on how to go about tuning on it or are there any write-ups or anything?

Thanks!
~Alex

You need:
1) Pocketlogger program and cable (sold in a package at http://www.digitaltuning.com). Make sure you get the 1g version.

2) A handheld PDA of some sort running Palm OS v3 or higher.

Your other option is to download one of the freeware programs, like Tunerstein. For 1gs, you can make a cable, or buy a cable on ebay for rather little. This would be a way to save money, but people tout Pocketlogger as being a far superior program.

As far as tuning tutorials, it seems like there is some logging info in Kyle's writeup on http://www.racingknowledge.org in the DSM forum.

Is this what most people buy? Or at least the people who know a lot about this (Like Kevin for example) so i can ask for help and what not? As well, how long is the cable?

Thanks!

All OBD2 loggers are similar. The 1g loggers vary a little bit in features, but are all the same basic setup. The process of tuning doesnt change.

There are 3 parts. The palm, the cable, and the software. If you buy from pocketlogger, you get the cable and software together. If you get the freeware, you typically end up making or buying a cable seperately. As far as what palms are compatible, the software provider should give a list, or at least what palm OS is supported.

For the 1g, the TMO logger software is now freeware. I run this on the 91 so far. I dont know where the previous owner got the cable, but you can buy them readily now. This requires a laptop, which has its advantages and disadvantages over palm pilot setups. Mainly the tradeoff between a bigger better screen, and size/weight.

Kyles writeup on tuning is pretty much right on. We tend to agree on most aspects of tuning.
