MSD ignitiont0p_sh0tta 04-11-2002, 11:34 AM How much of a difference would an upgraded ignition make on a stock engine? What I was told is that it would be a waste of money to add one to a stock engine, and you would need FI or a high compression ratio to see the benefits. thanks in advance dome 04-11-2002, 02:53 PM I was wondering the same thing. To The Top please... Rice-Rocketeer 04-11-2002, 04:58 PM Yeah you're more or less right. The main benefits you'll get now are clean starts, better MPG and cool red components under your hood. kane2g 04-11-2002, 11:48 PM unless you have FI,Hi compression or N2O the ingition upgrade will yield some MPG improvements, but not much more. Your stock ignition is fine, no need for new one. civicx_xracer 04-12-2002, 01:05 AM He is correct! If you read any honda builders handbook it even tells you in bold letters that unless you are running FI than aftermarket ignition is a waste of time and $$$ JayFidizzy 04-12-2002, 01:23 AM but its red kane2g 04-12-2002, 03:03 AM Originally posted by JayFidizzy but its red red does mean fast, but yellow is faster. oh well. evil_elmo 04-12-2002, 06:28 AM Originally posted by kane2g red does mean fast, but yellow is faster. oh well. i never knew yellow was faster than red :D Rice-Rocketeer 04-12-2002, 10:49 AM You never knew that yellow was the color of speed? typerx7 02-05-2005, 10:41 AM car insurance in pa charges extra for red cars....red cars are faster :) jameskersten 02-05-2005, 08:10 PM i am making 300whp plus with a stock ignition and i have no problems. people would be surprised at many things on a honda that are more then "good enough" for 99% of what we do. ie: cranks, fuel regulaters, ignition, etc. Ace$nyper 02-06-2005, 05:28 PM i am making 300whp plus with a stock ignition and i have no problems. people would be surprised at many things on a honda that are more then "good enough" for 99% of what we do. ie: cranks, fuel regulaters, ignition, etc. he speaks the truth thepig333 02-07-2005, 01:27 PM quick question alittle off the subject. When you guys say "fi" are you talking about turbos? Ace$nyper 02-07-2005, 01:46 PM quick question alittle off the subject. When you guys say "fi" are you talking about turbos? sometimes F/I is short for Forced Induction any power added thats not normal air comig in the motor so turbos often S/C and n2o are all F/I.
