HKS bov install

Hey all, i just recieved my HKS bov today and 1g hks bov flange from dejontool. Im just wondering what tools would i need to install this bov into my 1g L pipe? The only tool i dont know or have is the tool to clamp the C thing together. Its the wierd thing that comes with the hks bov. Some1 said that i need ring clamp/pliers? can u guys give me the tool name or a pic of how it looks like before i install this bov. Thanks.

EDIT:: oh yeah this bov better fit under my hood haah. i have a friend who did a custom pipe so that it will fit under his hood because this bov is soo huge.

Re: HKS bov install

just ask for C clamp pliers, or snap ring pliers. you NEED a pair of these when assembling the bov, trust me. it's even a pain in the ass when you do find a pair to use. just make sure when you assemble it to the flange, the bov is pointing the right way...i'd hate to see you have to take the ring back off and re-position it lol.

Re: HKS bov install

Hey did u get a air filter with your bov? i got 1 and was wondering if u need it for the install? It dont look like a normal filter, its a black circular object with air hose sticking out.

Re: HKS bov install

air filter? i think you're talking about the reducer....it's a circular thing with a big end and a smaller end, correct? if you notice, the stock vac line running from the intake manifold is too fat for the bov nipple....you hook this up to it, and find a skinnier hose to run from the reducer to the bov.

Re: HKS bov install

The install was a b**** but i got it in.. took me 50+ tries to get the freackin C clip on, i almost threw the bov right on my windsheild but decided not to. The hose was too big to be fitted onto the nipple of the bov but i had some zip ties and just ziped it without the air filter it came with. The car idles great but i think i got to close the bov a little bit since my Check Engine light went on after i reved it high on 3rd gear.

Re: HKS bov install

Sounds AMAZING. i followed my friends to their house and they can hear the bov clearly from their car ahead of me. They said it was 2x time louder than my old 1g dsm bov but it was louder than that when u drive it. It sounds like a whistle and shsssssshhhh at the end.

It's hard to forget the RFL. Get us a video/audio clip of your HKS... I love it on the WRX.

You could send it to me directly and I could host it on my website for a little while

So how does the car run now that you are venting? Are you going to keep it like that or are you going to get a MAFt? I will admit it, if you wanna call it ricer, I just love the sound of bov's when they are vented lol.

Re: HKS bov install

The car runs as good as when i had the 1g bov recirculated but with a high pitch sound haha. But the only prob is that i have to adust the bov right (close pressure nut thingy) so that it wont throw off CEL's all freaking day.. i had a prob with check engine light all day yesterday but now it seems to take it a little better.
