Wierd noise when accelerating!

I've got a 2000 Blazer 4x4 and am experiencing an odd noise when accelerating normally from a stop. When accelerating I hear a loud gargling noise…similar to a noise that glass packs make (or perhaps opening a throttle wide open). It sounds like it’s coming from under the passenger seat and typically goes away when I reach 30mph or so. Also the noise doesn’t occur when I slowly accelerate and I haven't noticed decreased power or anything.

Does anybody have any thoughts on what it could be? Thanks!!

Sounds like your cat convertor may be shot.

Get under your truck and smack the cat with the flat palm of your hand and listen for a rattle.

Make sure the engine is stone cold too.

I have a similiar issue. When I accelerate I usually hear what sounds like a whining or something spinning, people have told me that it is the throttle cable or something like that and nothing to worry about. My mom has a 2000 LT and when she heard the gurgling sound like you describe she had to have the cooling system chemically and power flushed to remove rust from the heater core. Right after she got it done was about the time I stumbled apon this amazing forum and decided to replace my factory red cap with a stant one. Thanks guys

Rattle = bad

Means the batalyst biscuit has broken away from the outer shell.

Needs to be replaced if it rattles loudly.

You should here nothing if it is intact.
