airbag problems?

I just brought my 325xi in because my airbags decided to deploy after i poped my front right tire. I was turning around in a parking lot and hit a pothole that basically took the tire off of the rim totalling the rim and tire but then my side airbags went off with no impact while i was still moving. now i am stuck having to pay $4000 Cdn to replace the airbags and side pannels because of a malfunction, if anyone has had any problems with the airbags please share your story and help me get out of paying $4000 because my airbags malfuctioned.

Re: airbag problems?

did u purchase the bimmer from a BMW dealer? Seems like a malfuntion, and if you got it from a dealer and hopefully it is still under warranty and you can get it replaced under that.

well the thing is that i brought it in and they looked at it, i told them what happend and there telling me its going to be $4000 to fix.. and there NOT paying for it. there trying to tell me that there is absolutly no way that my airbag can malfunction but i have proof that they can and BMW had an airbag recall in 1999 so hopefully i can show them evedence and help out my case, but if anyone has had problems or can help me in any way please do your best. thanks

Re: airbag problems?

this ridiculous. of course it can fail, its just like anything else. if it did not fail, than bimmers would not have a check system for the airbag system.

i know i have an older bimmer, but my airbag system is malfunctioning, however its in such a way that it will never deploy. . .

try calling this number - 201 573-2188, and speak to Chuck Winik; or send an e-mail to:

Leonora.Vlaovich@bmwna.com

They had a problem with the Instrument Clusters and these were the people to contact.

Maybe they can help you with your airbag problem.

Good Luck ! ! !

Keep us updated.
