Smile Programmed my 2001 Lumina keyless entry!

Great news! I programmed my 2001 Lumina keyless entry system. Here's how I did it:

Parts/tools required: 2 small alligator clip jumpers and a 10 ohm resistor (available at Radio Shack).

Procedure:

1. Opened trunk and pull back trim panelling on right side near taillight.
2. Located black plastic square connector taped to wire harness in sheath. It is connected via a black wire with white stripe.
3. Clipped one jumper wire between metal pin in connector and one end of the 10 ohm resistor.
4. Clipped th other jumper wire between the other end of the resistor and the trunk latch.
5. Door latches locked and unlocked and the module near the rear speakers squealed.
6. Pressed and held the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously on the remote until the door latches locked and unlocked again.
7. Did not have a second remote but I would repeat step 6 for any other remotes.
8. Disconnected the jumpers, replaced trim panelling, and closed trunk.

I used the resistor to prevent a direct short between the pin and ground just to be on the safe side
NOTE: The GM number and the FCC ID on back of remote were GM16245100-29 and ABO1502T.
This method probably works for any GM car with this type connector.
