Full center console

If you were to put this full center console into a regular cab would the ducts for the air conditioning vents line up with the ducts in the dash of the silvy? Guess what I'm trying to say is would the A/C vents on the console be functional? I thought that would be awesome for amplifier cooling. I want to build a box like the ProBox ones with the amp rack in the center.

Re: Full center console

There's air ducts under the passenger's and driver's seats, too

I have a 40/20/40 "bench" in mine... I wonder if I could yank the middle seat out and use a console?

a bit of work and it can be done.

when my wornty runs out, the first thing that I will be doing to the truck is tossing that middle seat.

making a work truck that you can not fit two grown men and two lunch buckes in is insane.

the cup holders on a seat realy suck if you got to get a nother person in the cab. you cant use them, or the person in the seat ends up spilling the drinks.

I have done some checking, I can add a coleman electric cooler and a second battery to run it and the work radio. a bit of work and it will even look nice. when i have a date and she needs to sit close a few bolts and she can sit on the center seat.

Re: Full center console

Ok, my sister has a Suburban with fron captain's chairs and center console. I have a 40/20/40 split bench. With her suburban, the captain's chairs have the armrest built into them. Does the Silverado console have an armrest, or do I need a pair of captain's chairs to go with it? Also, did the captain's chairs ever come in cloth? I really do not want leather.

the captain's charis in the silverado are the same as the ones in the suburban, with the armrests built in. and they do come in cloth.

Yeap, just like that. I've seen your setup before. Pretty nice job you did there buddy. I figured out I'd have to get the duct work for the A/C vents in the console to work though.

Re: Full center console

ya know, i wouldnt think that enough air would come out of the vents to cool the amp...you'd have to leave the fan on 5 and then freeze your ass off. My amp never gets warm and its bridged to 1 ohm. I personally think, if your adding it just for that purpose, its not worth the trouble or cost, especially for the small amount of cooling it will provide.

Re: Full center console

Cooling for amps is over rated anyways, I had a Phoenix Gold Saphire Series 50 x 2 AMP and it use to sit in a box that was bolted down in the back of my blazer. Through all of the hot summers and loud music it never ever skipped a beat. I had it bridged down to 2 ohms and it was still good. I think the manufacturers of amps have to keep that in mind as they are putting these things into vehicles that can range to very warm temperatures inside.

As for the center console. I don't really miss mine I have the 40/20/40 in the front and it's nice to have the extra seat belt for the front seat. I like the factory one where it has the storage and can be flipped up to house another human being.

Just my worth.

Re: Full center console

Yeah, I wouldn't count on using those ducts to cool your amp. If it gets that hot then either you have a real crappy amp like Audiobahn or you have too low of ohm load on the amp.

Re: Full center console

my amp overheats if im pounding on it for more than like 45 min. its a 320 watt kenwood. The only thing i can think of is because i have it basicly completly enclosed in between the speaker box and the back seat. I was thinking about getting another fan from radio shack or something, one for a computer.?

Re: Full center console

Yeah, I don't think you have quite enough air around the amp to let it cool well. A fan should help tremendously

Re: Full center console

but since its practically completly enclosed wouldent it just be blowing around hot air? ....where should i mount the fan?
