Question Gas gauge stuck & no amp gauge

I have a 1981 Dodge 1/2 ton..... I can not get my gas gauge to work. It is always stuck on "E". My amp gauge also does not move just stays perfectly straight up and down. Any ideas on how to fix this? I have tried to re-wire my gas gauge thinking it was a broken wire somewhere but no change. Any ideas? I don't know where else to start.

Re: Gas gauge stuck & no amp gauge

There's a float in your gas tank, which is where the indicator gets its reading. You may want to take that unit out and replace it; you could always cCheck to see if voltage is coming out of the tank - if not, that's the problem.

Not sure about the amp meter.
