68 shelby stang

Hi all i am new to the mustang scene but my friend has found an old 68 shelby (not sure about the spelling) out in a field. i have not personally seen it but he says its still in good condition. i am going to head out there this weekend and i was wondering what i should be looking for enginewise to see if its even worth pulling it out of the field.

thanks for your help

like i said i dont know much about mustangs so if any of my info above isn't correct please let me know.

if it's a true 68 Shelby, it's worth pulling out of the field no matter what shape it's in!!!

Yep, but I personally doubt its a Shelby Mustang. I mean I find it very hard to believe that someone who knows what he has is a Shelby is letting it rot in a field. If its in "good condition" and you can get a title for it, no matter what kind of mustang it is, its worth pulling out of there.

Actually if you want to get technical after '67 Shelby stopped making Mustangs but Ford kept on putting 428, and some 427, engines in Mustangs and slapped the Shelby name on there for sales. So it could go both ways I guess.

I forget but I know there was also a year they made Shelby clones and sold them at cheap prices. They didn't have the performance but had all the looks so people thought you had a Shelby. So you might want to look out there when you go to look at it.

Re: 68 shelby stang

I'd pull that badboy out, do a little full body restoration and your set.
