Almost perfect Idle but not quite....

How smooth can you get a 4.3L with a balance shaft to idle ?

No codes, no hesitation, no stalling, but an ever-so-slight stumble.

The only thing that hasn't been replaced is the wires with 165K on them.

some times it so smooth you can't tell if it's running, other times its slight stumbling, but tach stays 650 rpms in gear, at idle and doesn't move...

Go ahead tell me I'm nuts, can it get smoother....hate to just replace everything, but what would be a good place to go...

Replaced within the last 6 months

PCV and cleaned tube.
Cleaned EGR
Air Filter
Cleaned throttle body
Auto-RX cleaning 400 miles so far
AMSOIL performance improver in the last 6 months
Cap and Rotor replaced

Original
Wires (no indication that there is leakage on wires like cracks, sparks etc)

Coil

MPG is a steady 18-20+

Maybe it's as good as it gets with 165K on it...but thought I'd ask.....

Yeah...no one has really indicated anything BAD about it and I researched the hell out of it...and have seen visual proof of it working so what the hey....

MAF was replaced in February..but could check I suppose...Plugs have about 65K on them and it's possible and should change them...

There is probably alot of very mi-nute things contributing intermittent stumble......

Thanks

From my experience you have done good to have that many miles on the ign wires. I would say at least it is time to replace them. You IAC might be getting dirty too, but it is not as easy to service, may have to try new one.

65k on the plugs?

Yea, time to replace them, don't believe the 100k stuff.

For the $30 cost, it will help you a lot.
